NORWAY EXPANDS TRANSPORTATION WITH MEGA PROJECTS

Several significant infrastructure projects are set to begin in 2025 under the country’s new National Transport Plan.

Here are 3 of the most notable ones:

1) The Arna-Stanghelle Line:

This project is part of a larger initiative to improve the Bergen Line. It will significantly enhance the capacity and safety of this key railway stretch, which is currently prone to landslides. The project also aims to reduce travel time between Bergen and Oslo.

2) The Follo Line:

Planning will begin for a new national tunnel between Oslo S and Skøyen. This project is essential for increasing capacity and reducing congestion in one of the busiest parts of the Norwegian rail network, although its completion is expected in the 2040s.

3) Stad Ship Tunnel:

This unique project, the first of its kind in the world, involves constructing a tunnel through the Stad Peninsula to allow ships to bypass the dangerous waters of the Stad Sea. It’s part of Norway’s broader maritime infrastructure improvements and is expected to significantly enhance safety and efficiency for maritime traffic.
